Travel Information for Northern Cyprus

Documents

Passport & Visas
All visitors except Turkish citizens need a valid national passport for entry to North Cyprus.

British Passport holders do not need a visa to enter North Cyprus. For other nationalities, visas can be issued on entry at the local airport, at a fee depending on what nationality the visitor is. The maximum fee is 30 US dollars.

Please note: Visitors who do not wish to have their passports stamped by the authorities on arrival in North Cyprus may request a stamped visa form, which is loosely inserted into the passport and removed on departure. If the passport is stamped this will not prevent access to other countries.

Currency & Credit Cards
The unit of currency is the Turkish Lira. The exchange rate, at the time of this writing, was approximately 2.3 new Turkish Lira to the British Pound. You can purchase Lira before entry, but visitors will find it advantageous if they take their currency in Traveller cheques, Sterling , US Dollars, Euro or any other hard currency, which many local businesses will happily accept.

Credit cards are gradually becoming recognised in North Cyprus but cannot be relied upon and often attract a commission charge.

Health

Local health services
For most ailments and treatments the general practice is to call or visit a private doctor. The cost of consulting or examined by a doctor is from £15 to £25. All medications except the common tablets require a prescription. The same applies to dental treatment. Islamabad Real Estate Property Sale, Rent and Lease.

Chemists in the resort take turn to stay open after hours, and this is displayed on their shop window. There is at least one chemist in each resort that stays open 24 hours a day. All medication should be paid for. Please do not forget to obtain receipts from the doctors or chemists for insurance purposes.

Vaccination
No compulsory vaccination is required, however, as health regulations are subject to change, you should check with your own doctor before departure.

Water
Although the tap water may be safe to drink in some resorts, we advise you use bottled water.
